SPOKANE, Wash., -- The Loyola Marymount men's tennis team (5-12, 3-2) put up a fight against Gonzaga on Saturday afternoon, but fell 4-3 on the road.
Starting the match off in doubles play, the No. 32 doubles tandem of
Diego Nava and
Nick Borchenko were defeated by Sam Feit and Ruadham O'Sullivan 6-2 on court one.
Lukas Moenter and
Thien Nguyen evened things out on court two, as they beat Dualde Homedes and Emilio Moreno 6-3.
With doubles tied up,
Ryan Brown and
Ethan Prost put up a fight against Kyle Everly and Hunter Egger on court three, but fell 7-5, giving the Bulldogs the doubles point.
Down 1-0, No. 108 Moenter picked up a quick 6-4, 6-2 win over O'Sullivan on court one to tie things up. Borchenko battled Feit in their third set, but couldn't come out with the win, falling7-6 (7), 6-3.
Moreno fell to Vincent Rettke on court four7-5, 6-3, giving Gonzaga its third point. Nava pushed Everly to three sets on court three and came out with a win 2-6, 7-5, 6-2.
Austin Di Giulio tied things up after a three-set win on court six, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Prost pushed Emillio Moreno to the end, but couldn't come out with the win on court five, 7-5, 6-7 (8), 6-1.
The Lions will be back home next Friday and Saturday to host BYU and San Diego.
