Box Score CLAREMONT, Calif., --The fourth seeded Loyola Marymount men's tennis team beat Pepperdine 4-2 in the opening round of the West Coast Conference Tennis Championships to advance to the semifinals.
The Lions battled through doubles play, as
Diego Nava and
Ryan Brown easily beat Pawel Jankowiak and Matias Sborowitz 6-1 on court three.
Ethan Pros and
Lucas Moreno fell to Corrado Summaria and Enrique Luque Rick on court two 6-4 to tie things up.
Nick Borchenko and
Lukas Moenter fought Adrian Oetzbach and Tim Zeitvogel until the end, forcing a tie-breaker and coming out with the win on court one, 7(7)-6(1), clinching the doubles point for the Lions.
Up 1-0 headed into singles play, the Waves tied things up after Borchenko fell to Summaria on court two 6-4, 6-1.
Max Kaiser fell to Zeitvogel on court five, 6-1, 6-2, giving Pepperdine the lead.
Moreno tied things up after beating Sborowitz on court four 6-2, 6-2. The Lions took the lead after Nava beat Luque Rico on court three, 6-4, 7-5.

LMU's win over Pepperdine advances the Lions to the semifinal round where the team will play No. 1 San Diego.
