LOS ANGELES, Calif., -- The Loyola Marymount softball team (24-16, 1-2 WCC) will host University of San Diego this weekend, its second conference series of the season.
The Lions are looking to bounce back after a tough series against BYU, where LMU shutout the Cougars in the first game 2-0, but lost in the last two games, 4-2, 5-1.
After the losses, the Lions are third in the West Coast Conference, right behind San Diego (3-0) and BYU (2-1).
The Lions hold down the No. 1 spot in the conference for pitching, as they have a team ERA of 2.44, the only team under 3.00. While the team holds down the conference in team ERA,
Hannah Bandimere and
Samantha Manti hold down the No. 1 and No. 2 spots in individual ERA. Bandimere leads the conference at 1.96 over 107.1 innings pitched, while Manti is No. 2 with a 2.27 over 95.2 innings pitched.
Molly Grumbo is a conference leader in runs scored, total bases and batting average, with 24, 55 and .313, respectfully.
Last season, the Lions swept the Toreros in their three-game series 7-3, 9-2 and 6-0. USD is 19-18 on the season and 3-0 in conference play, as San Diego swept Pacific in their conference opener.
The Lions will open the weekend against USD with a double header on Saturday with the first game being at noon and the second being at 2:30. The Lions will pick back up for the third game on Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
