LOS ANGELES, Calif., -- They Loyola Marymount men's tennis team took on No. 19 UCLA, putting up a fight against several ranked opponents, but fell 7-0.
Starting with doubled play, the No. 40 doubles tandem of
Nick Borchenko and
Diego Nava's undefeated doubles record was snapped after No. 36 Maxime Cressy and Keegan Smith beat the pair 6-2 on court one.
Lukas Moenter and
Thien Nguyen evened things out after beating Govind Nanda and Connor Rapp 6-1 on court two.
Ryan Brown and
Ethan Prost fell to Bryce Pereira and Patrick Zahraj 6-1 on court three, clinching the double point for UCLA.
Down 1-0, the Lions went into singles play. Borchenko fell to No. 80 Smith on court two 6-3, 6-2, while
Max Kaiser fell to Zahraj on court four 6-0, 6-1. No. 86 Moenter took on No. 92 Cressy on court one and fell 7-5, 6-2, clinching the match for the Bruins.
Nava played No. 35 Nanda on court three and lost 6-4, 6-4, while Prost fell to Ben Goldberg on court five 6-4, 6-3.
Austin Di Giulio pushed No. 100 Mathew Tsolakyan to three sets, but fell 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 1-0 (10-2), giving UCLA a 7-0 win over LMU.
The Lions will be back in action on Friday and Saturday to continue conference play, as the team will host Saint Mary's on Friday and Pacific on Saturady.
