Box Score MALIBU, Calif., -- The Loyola Marymount men's tennis team (3-9, 1-0) won its conference opener Saturday afternoon, as the team beat Pepperdine 4-3 in Malibu, Calif.

The No. 40. doubles tandem of
Nick Borchenko and Deigo Nava set the tone for the match after they picked up their sixth consecutive win of the season when they beat Adrian Oeztbach and Tim Zeitogel on court one 6-3.
Ethan Prost and
Ryan Brown beat Matias Sborowitz and Pawel Jankowiak 6-3 on court six, clinching the doubles point for the Lions.
Up 1-0, the Waves tied things up after Nava was beat on court three by Corrado Summaria 6-4, 6-3, while
Thien Nguyen was defeated by Sborowitz 6-2, 7-6, giving Pepperdine the lead.
Lucas Moreno was beat by Zeitvogel on court five after a close second set, 6-4, 7-6.
Down 3-1, Borchenko responded, as he pushed Rico Enrique Luque to three sets and came out with a win on court two, 3-6, 7-6 7-6, while
Lukas Moenter pushed Oeztbach to three sets and came out with the win on court one, 6-7, 7-6, 7-6 to tie things up.
Tied at 3-3, match point was left up to court six.
Austin Di Giulio forced a third set and came out with a win, 7-6(6), 3-6, 6-2, clinching the match for the Lions.
The Lions will continue conference play next week, as they will take on Saint Mary's on Friday and Pacific on Saturday.
