Lions Go 2-1 Versus Fullerton, Looking Towards Long Beach State

 
LOS ANGELES, Calif., -- The Loyola Marymount softball team (20-13) went 2-1 against Cal State Fullerton this week, losing the last game of the series on Friday. 
 
After a 4-3 win and a 3-0 shutout against the Titans on Thursday, the Lions weren't able to keep their momentum in Friday's game, as LMU fell 12-5. 
 
The Titans opened up the game with two runs in the first inning, while the Lions did not score until the second inning. 
 
Andrea Gonzalez hit her second homerun of the season in the second inning, putting the first run on the board for the Lions. 
 
Down 2-1, Fullerton gained even more momentum and scored four more runs in the third inning, one in the fifth and two in the sixth, extending their lead to 9-1. 
 
The Lions responded in the bottom of the sixth, putting three more runs on the board, starting with a single from Molly Grumbo, followed with a single from Megan Dedrick. With two on base, Delanie Wisz scored her third homerun of the season, giving her three RBIs and making it a 9-4 game. 
 
Fullerton topped off the seventh inning with three more runs, while the Lions scored one more in the bottom of the seventh. 
 
The Titans walked Riley Ehlen, Desiree Moreno, while hitting Hailey Jackson with a pitch. Grumbo made it to first on a fielder's choice, while Ehlen was out at home. With bases loaded, Robinson walked, sending Marshall home. 
 
Jackson went 1-2 at the plate, while Wisz and Gonzalez went 1-3. The Lions had six total hits compared to the Titans' 14. 
 
The Lions closed out the game with a 12-5 loss and is now 7-19 against Fullerton all-time. 
 
The Lions will be back in action on Saturday for a double-header against Long Beach State (12-15) in Long Beach, Calif., snapping their 17-game home stand. LMU is 9-24 against LBSU all-time. The Lions are looking to bounce back against Long Beach on Saturday, as the they were swept 0-3 against the 49ers last season. 
 
The first game will start at noon, with the second one to follow at 2:30.
