Box Score STOCKTON, Calif., -- The Loyola Marymount men's tennis team dominated the first round of the Pacific Mountain Invitational on Saturday afternoon, as the Lions came out with a 4-3 win against Brown.
 
"Great win for the guys against a very good and well coached Brown team," said head coach Tom Lloyd. "The freshmen came up big with their wins that tied up the match. The whole thing came down to the doubles point and we came out and showed great discipline and poise today"
 
Due to rain in Stockton, the Lions had to play at an indoor court, where they started with singles and only played two matches at a time. 
 
No. 71 Lukas Moenter took on Peter Litsky on court one and came out with a 7-5, 6-1 win on court one, putting the first point on the board for the Lions. 
 
Nick Borchenko fell to Ching Lam on court two, 6-4, 6-2, tying things up for Brown. Ethan Prost fell to Charles Tan on court four 6-3, 7-5, while Diego Nava pushed Roger Chou to three sets, but fell 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (4) on court three. 
 
Down 3-1, the Lions gained momentum, as Thien Nguyen pushed his opponent to three sets and came out with a 6-3, 1-6, 1-0 (10) win on court five, while Austin Di Giulio beat Ben Collier on court six 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (6). 
 
Tied up 3-3, the Lions went into doubles play to clinch the match. Borchenko and Nava picked up a 6-4 win on court one, while Moenter and Nguyen picked up a 6-4 win on court two, giving the Lions the fourth point the needed to win the match. 
 
The Lions will be back in action tomorrow for day two of the invitational.
