Box Score SANTA BARBARA Calif., --The Loyola Marymount men's tennis team (2-6) put up a fight against the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos, but couldn't hold on, as the team fell to UCSB 5-2 on Saturday on the road.
Opening up with doubles play,
Ethan Prost and
Diego Nava fell to Joseph Guillin and Victor Krustev on court two, 6-3.
Lukas Moenter and
Thien Nguyen defeated the No. 72 doubles tandem of Anders Holm and Nicolas Moreno de Alboran on court one, 6-3 to even things out.
Ryan Brown and Austin Di Guilio took on the No. 80 doubles tandem of Joseph Rotheram and Dominguez Soto and fell 6-4 on court three, clinching the match for UCSB.
Down 1-0, the Lions went into doubles play, Nguyen took on No. 94 Victor Krustev on court three, 6-3, 6-1, while Nava fell to Moreno de Alboran 6-4, 6-1.
Prost was defeated by Joseph Rotheram on court four, 7-5, 6-2, clinching the match for UCSB.
Di Guilio picked up the first point for the Lions after defeating his opponent Holm on court five after forcing three sets 4-6, 7-5, 1-0(10-6).
Lucas Moreno was defeated by Hironori Koyanagi on court six 7-6, 6-1. No. 125 Moenter picked up another win over a top 50 opponent, as he beat No. 39 Guillin on court one after three sets 6-7, 7-6, 1-0 (10-6), closing the match down 5-2.
The Lions will be back in action to take on SMU in Dallas, Texas on Thursday.
