LOS ANGELES, Calif., -- The Loyola Marymount softball team will head to Fullerton, Calif., to participate in the Judi Garman Classic this week, starting on Thursday.
The Lions (7-5) will head into this week's game coming off of a 2-1 win over SDSU, the Lions' first win over the Aztecs since 1997.
Hannah Bandimere won her fifth game of the season, advancing to 5-3, while
Linnay Wilson got her first save of the season.
Molly Grumbo won the game for the Lions after hitting a homerun, which sent
Andrea Gonzalez home, resulting in two runs and two RBIs for Grumbo.
The Lions will kick off their first game of the Judi Garman Classic on Thursday against Auburn at 3:00 p.m., followed with Fresno State at 7:30 p.m. LMU will pick back up play starting with New Mexico Friday morning at 9:00 a.m., UCLA on Saturday at noon and CSUN on Sunday at 4:30.
Last year at the Judi Garman Classic, the Lions went 0-4, including a 5-2 loss against the Bulldogs.
The Lions are 0-1 against Auburn, with their last meeting being in 2012, while they are 6-14 against Fresno State. The last time the Bulldogs and Lions met was in 2018.
LMU has a tied 1-1 record with New Mexico and haven't met with the Lobos since 2016.
The Lions took on UCLA earlier this season, where the Lions pushed the Bruins until the end, but fell 3-1. LMU is 8-20 against CSUN, with their last meeting in 2017.
