LOS ANGELES, Calif., -- The Loyola Marymount women's basketball team will host its final home games of the season this week, starting with the team's Pride in Pink game against Saint Mary's on Thursday, followed by the Lions' Senior Day game on Saturday against Pacific.
The Lions (15-11, 8-6) will be looking to bounce back from a tough loss against rival Pepperdine on Friday.
Jasmine Jones led the Lions in points against the Waves, as she had 23, tying her career high. Jones' 23-point game moved her up from the West Coast Conference's No. 16 scorer to No. 13, averaging 12.5 points a game.
Chelsey Gipson leads the Lions in points, as she has 353 on the season and holds down the No. 3 spot in the conference for season scoring, averaging 16.8, and the No. 2 spot for conference scoring, averaging 18.4 in conference play.
Bree Alford maintains the No. 1 spots in season-total rebounds and conference rebounds, averaging 9.6 and 10.6, respectively.
Andee Velasco leads the Lions in assists and just jumped up to the No. 2 spot for season assists and conference assists, averaging 4.8 and 4.9 per game.
The Lions are second in the WCC in conference assists and steals, averaging 16.4 and 9.4. LMU is seventh in the conference, while Saint Mary's is third and Pacific is sixth.
Saint Mary's leads the conference in scoring offence, averaging 79.6 points a game. The last time the Lions met with the Gaels, LMU fell 86-62 on the road.
The Lions and Pacific are neck and neck with conference steals, as the Tigers sit at the No.1 spot, averaging 10.4, while Saint Mary's is last in the conference in steals. The last time the Lions met with the Tigers, the team snapped Pacific's three-game winning streak after beating them 72-67 on the road.
Thursday's game against Saint Mary's will be the annual Pride in Pink game, where the Lions will be playing in pink jerseys to promote breast cancer awareness and raise funds for the fight against breast cancer. Tip-off will be at 7:00 p.m.
Saturday's game against Pacific will be Senior Day, where seniors
