LOS ANGELES, Calif., -- The Loyola Marymount women's basketball team fell to rival Pepperdine at home 73-55 on Friday night.
The Waves (17-8, 10-4) took the first lead of the game and maintained it until the end.
Jasmine Jones led the team in points with 23, tying her career high.
Chelsey Gipson was also a team leader in points with 12.
Bree Alford led the team in rebounds with six, while
Andee Velasco led the team in assists with eight.
The Waves took a 24-point lead in the third quarter, their largest lead of the game. The Lions fought back and ended the third quarter down 55-41. The team was not able to maintain its momentum, as Pepperdine won 73-55.
The Lions were 38 percent from the field and 70 percent from the free-throw line. The teams were tied in steals, with three a piece.
The Lions are 0-2 with their PCH Rival this season and are now 15-11 on the season and 8-6 in conference play.
The Lions will be back on the court next week to take on Saint Mary's on Thursday and Pacific on Saturday at home. LMU's will honor its seniors,
