Saturday Night’s Home Game Pairs Lions Against Tigers for First Time

LOS ANGELES - After battling it out in a back-and-forth contest with the nation's 20th-ranked team on Wednesday night, LMU men's basketball (3-5) returns home on Saturday night to host Grambling State (4-4) for the first time in program history.

The Lions, winners of two of three at Gersten Pavilion this season, host a Grambling team that holds the season-high across Division I after scoring 147 points in their second game of the season. The Tigers rolled Ecclesia College, 147-52, behind double-digit scoring performances by eight different players. The SWAC leaders in scoring offense average 82.3 points per game, good for 23rd in the nation.

LMU improved on their WCC-leading field goal percentage on Wednesday night against a stout Colorado defense. The Lions now rank 12th in the nation after shooting 50.8 percent from the field through eight games.

After making a career-high 12 field goals at CU, leading to 31 points, it was also Eli Scott's 10 rebounds that helped the junior rise in the all-time records. Scott's career night in Boulder was his ninth double-double, which ranks in a tie for 18th in program history.

Saturday night's game will be the fifth trip to the west coast this season for the Tigers, having already played road contests at San Jose State, Oregon State, Portland State, and UC Santa Barbara.

All fans are encouraged to bring a stuffed animal to the game for the Athletic Department's annual Teddy Bear Toss, which will take place at halftime.

The game will stream on the WCC Network. All LMU men's basketball games can be heard live on KXLU 88.9 FM and TuneIN Radio. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.
