WCC Play Opens Thursday as Lions and Toreros Meet for Only Time

LOS ANGELES - West Coast Conference action has arrived as LMU men's basketball (6-8, 0-0 WCC) opens the league portion of its schedule with a 7 p.m. home game on Thursday. The Lions have just one game on the calendar this season with the University of San Diego (7-8), due to the conference's 16-game schedule.

The Lions look to snap a four-game winless streak against the Toreros, and maintain their all-time winning record at home against USD. LMU holds a 25-24 advantage in home games against San Diego.

The Toreros are winners of four of their last five games, with the only loss in that stretch being a neutral site three-point defeat to Stanford at the Golden State Warrior's Chase Center. The Lions split their December slate, going 4-4 over the final month of 2019.

LMU continues to boast a top-15 shooting team this season. The Lions shoot 49.0 percent from the field.

There will be a chance for takeaways on Thursday. San Diego's 220 turnovers this season are the most of WCC schools this season, and rank 328 nationally among Division I programs.

Three players on the court will have multiple double-doubles to this point of the season. LMU's Eli Scott has three double-doubles this season, including the WCC's only triple-double. San Diego has both Braun Hartfield and James Jean-Marie, who have recorded a pair of double-double games to date.

The game will stream live on The WCC Network and Watch Stadium. Live Stats will be run through Statbroadcast. Jesse Kass can be heard on KXLU 88.9 FM and TuneIN Radio.
