ALBUQUERQUE, N.M --The Loyola Marymount University women's basketball team put up a fight against Providence College on Friday night, but the Lions fell to the Friars on their last day of the Lobos Invitational.Â

The Lions dominated in the first quarter, as the team went on an 11-0 run to open the game. The Friars responded towards the end of the quarter and tied things up 13-13 to head into the second quarter.Â

Raychel Stanley opened up the second quarter with a layup to give the Lions the lead. The teams were neck and neck for the rest of the half. Down by one, CiCi Ellington made two free-throws to close out the half up 23-22.Â

Providence responded when they came out in the third quarter, going on a 6-0 run to take the lead. The Lions cut their deficit to only one after Ellington closed out the quarter with two made free throws.Â

Down 35-34, Ellington went back to the line to open up the fourth. The freshman went 2-2, giving the Lions their lead back. The teams battled it out for the remainder of the quarter. A layup from Stanley gave the Lions the lead with just about a minute left. Providence came back and won the game 48-45.Â

Ellington led the Lions in points with 11, and had four steals, while going 6-8 at the line. Stanley tallied up 10 points. Jones had another dominating game in rebounds with 12, while having two blocks.
Aspyn Adams shot three three-pointers.Â

The Lions shot 30 percent from the field and 61.1 percent from the line, while the Friars shot 25.5 and 68 percent.Â
