LOS ANGELES - Coming off a home win to cap the Thanksgiving weekend, LMU men's basketball (3-4) will enter a tough environment Wednesday afternoon looking for their first two-game win streak of the young season. The Lions will take on 20th-ranked and unbeaten Colorado (6-0) in Boulder for the team's first game against a ranked opponent of the season.
Colorado's season highlights include opening in China with a win over Arizona State and winning all three games in the MGM Main Event in Las Vegas. This has led to the Buffs second 6-0 start in the last three seasons.
Defense will be a calling card for each team on Wednesday. Colorado has held four of six opponents under 60 points, and the Lions just held Southern Utah to 51 points on Sunday and 34 percent shooting. In each of LMU's three wins this season, opponents have scored under 65 points.
In addition to the team defense, the Lions are just one of 18 teams with more makes than misses from the field this season. LMU ranks 13th in Division I with a 50.7 shooting percentage (186-for-367).
The Buffaloes do much of their work on the glass and at the free throw line. Colorado ranks 20th in rebound margin at +6.3, and are 23rd in the country in free throws made with 570.
This will be the only Pac-12 Conference school that LMU plays this season. Last year, the Lions traveled to UCLA with an unbeaten 8-0 record to face the Bruins. In 2017-18, LMU lost at Oregon State and at Washington by a combined total of just six points.
The game will air on Pac-12 Networks. All LMU men's basketball games can be heard live on KXLU 88.9 FM and TuneIN Radio. Tip is scheduled for 1 p.m.
