Galen Center the Site for Thursday Night’s Men’s Basketball Game

LOS ANGELES - LMU's home game will look different on Thursday night. Instead of playing on The Bluff, the Lions (5-6) are hosting Portland State (5-6) at Galen Center on the campus of USC at 7 p.m. The move was announced when Loyola Marymount University was selected as the site for the DNC Debate held the same night.

LMU has won three straight home games and looks to continue that streak on a new court. Portland State is already in Southern California, having played at Pepperdine on Tuesday night. The Vikings fell to the Waves following a second-half comeback from Pepperdine.

These two teams met last season in the Rose City, with LMU playing one of the team's best all-around games of the season. The Lions scored 85 points that December night, the most against a Division I program all season in 2018-19, with 26 of those points coming from the free throw line. Eli Scott finished with 14 points, eight rebounds, and three assists on 4-of-5 shooting. This season, Scott ranks 16th nationally with 65 steals to date.

This year's team continues to shoot the ball at an astonishing rate. Only Dayton (53.9 percent) and Kansas (52.9 percent) shoot the ball at a higher percentage than LMU's 52.0 percent (292-for-562) clip in 2019-20.

The Vikings are the nation's leaders in offensive rebounding this season. No team has collected more offensive rebounds per game than PSU's 17.0. Portland State also has active hands, ranking 16th in the country with 106 total steals.

The game is still scheduled to stream live on The WCC Network and Watch Stadium. Live Stats will be run through Statbroadcast. Tickets are $5 general admission, with LMU men's basketball season tickets being honored. Galen Center does have a clear bag policy for all fans entering the facility.
