BIMINI, Bahamas - LMU men's basketball (2-2) opened the 2019 Junkanoo Jam with a win over Air Force on Thursday night. Less than 24 hours later, the Lions will be back on the island court for the second day of games, taking on Indiana State at 4 p.m. (1 p.m. Pacific).
The Sycamores (0-4) suffered a late loss to Duquesne to open the tournament and are still in search of their first win of the season. The Dukes climbed back into the game in the final minutes to earn a three-point win. Indiana State opens the season with six straight games away from home and will not play their first game in Terre Haute, Ind., until after this tournament.
LMU earned a win after shooting over 60+ percent from the field and 50 percent from three for the second time this season. The Lions also hit those shooting marks in the opening night win over Westcliff.
All of LMU's scoring came from six players, who each finished between eight and 18 points. Despite Air Force using nine different players to score, the LMU bench outscored the Falcons' bench 19-10. The Lions have outscored all four opponents this season with their bench, and hold a 107-45 scoring advantage from non-starters.
This will only be the third meeting all-time between the two programs, and first since 1950. The Lions have not played a Missouri Valley Conference school since facing then-11th ranked Wichita State to open the 2014 Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic.
A live stream of the game will be available through the FloHoops, with live stats available online as well. All LMU men's basketball games can be heard live on KXLU 88.9 FM and TuneIN Radio.
