Lions Open Junkanoo Jam with First-Ever Game Against Air Force

BIMINI, Bahamas - LMU men's basketball (1-2) has departed Los Angeles for The Bahamas to compete in the 2019 Junkanoo Jam. The three-game tournament opens with the Lions taking on the Air Force Academy for the first time in school history. The game will tip at 4 p.m. on the island (1 p.m. Pacific).
 
The Falcons (2-2) played most recently of the four tournament teams. Snapping their two-game win streak, Air Force suffered a Monday night setback at TCU.
 
This marks the third-consecutive game for the Lions against an opponent from the Mountain West conference. LMU held first half leads in the previous two contests, but were unable to close out with a win.
 
LMU has shot well in the early portion of the season, ranking 20th in the NCAA in field goal shooting percentage as a team at 51.7 percent. Air Force, conversely, allows opponents to shoot 44.7 percent, which ranks 265 in Division I.
 
Air Force capitalizes when they get to the free throw line. This season, the Falcons are shooting 78.1 percent from the charity stripe which ranks at the top of the Mountain West and 33rd overall in the country.
 
The Junkanoo Jam field includes LMU, Air Force, Indiana State, and Duquesne. All four teams will end up playing each other at the tournament, with games scheduled back-to-back on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.
