The Loyola Marymount University Lions men's soccer team will return to the NCAA College Cup for the first time since the 2013 season and will host an opening round contest at Sullivan Field against No. 20 Seattle University on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7:00 p.m.
The Lions wrapped up the regular season with a 2-0 victory over the San Francisco Dons on Saturday night, giving LMU their sixth West Coast Conference win and a regular season record of 11-5-3.
The trip to the NCAA's will mark head coach
Paul Krumpe's seventh appearance in the College Cup while at the helm of the Lions.
The Lions enter Thursday night's match with a balanced attack as
Duhaney Williams,
Bastien Oberli,
Jack Sauls, and
CJ Neville lead the team with four goals apiece. Goalkeeper
Jacob Jackson has been strong in net for the Lions as he boasts a goals against average of 0.82 in 15 starts this year. Jackson's impressive play in net saw him post nine shutouts on the season and three clean sheets in five WCC games he's played in.
The Lions and Redhawks played at the beginning of the 2018 season but Thursday night's game will mark the first time both teams will face each other in the postseason.
The winner of Thursday night's match will move on to face the seventh-seeded Stanford Cardinal on Sunday, Nov. 24.
