LOS ANGELES – The Loyola Marymount University volleyball team ( 10-7, 4-1 WCC) will be hosting rival Pepperdine for the PCH Cup Friday night in Gersten Pavilion.
The Lions will be hosting the Waves with an undefeated home streak, as the team is 4-0 in Gersten, which includes 3-0 sweeps over Santa Clara, San Francisco, Gonzaga and Portland.
LMU has only dropped three sets in conference play, which was to No. 9 BYU, where the team fell 3-2.
The Lions are ranked No. 40 in the nation in assists per set with 12.63, and No. 27 in the nation in team assists, which has been led by
Tess Reid who has 443 on the season and 7.62 assists per set.
LMU is ranked No. 37 in the nation in team kills, totaling 857, with 224 coming from
Rose Booth and 212 coming from
Savannah Slattery.
Meredith Teague leads the team in service aces with 21, while
Emmelyn Walters leads the team in blocks with 39 and
Bo Culo leads the team in digs with 161.
The Lions will be looking to take back the PCH Cup from the Waves, as LMU went 0-2 against Pepperdine last season, getting swept 3-0 in both matches. The Waves lead LMU 24-53 all-time, with the Lions' last win being in 2017.
Friday's match will be the LMU's annual Pride in Pink game, where the athletes will be wearing pink to honor those who have been affected by breast cancer.
The first serve will be at 7:00 PM in Gersten Pavilion.
