LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Loyola Marymount men's basketball looks to earn a road split this week as they travel from San Diego up to Santa Clara to play the Broncos on Saturday night.
Both teams dropped their Thursday night contests, with LMU (14-6, 2-4 WCC) losing at USD and Santa Clara (11-10, 3-4 WCC) being routed at home by No. 4 Gonzaga.
The two teams have split their regular season contests each of the last three seasons, with LMU spoiling Santa Clara's senior night celebrations last season.
The Lions hope to return in the win column away from Gersten Pavilion. LMU has lost four consecutive road games following an all-around performance at Portland State on Dec. 15.
Prior to Thursday's loss the Broncos had been rolling at home. Santa Clara saw their six-game home win streak snapped to Gonzaga.
LMU's strength has been on the defensive side, especially with the team's ability to grab steals. The 7.3 steals per game rank second in the WCC as a team.
James Batemon,
Jeffery McClendon, and
Joe Quintana rank one, two, and three in steals per game at 1.70, 1.65, and 1.60, respectively.
This should pair well against Santa Clara's turnover numbers. The Broncos rank last in the conference in turnovers per game (14.4) and turnover margin (-3.8).
The game will tip at 6 p.m. and stream on TheW.tv.
