LOS ANGELES – The college water polo season is finally here for the Loyola Marymount women's team. The Lions, ranked 15
thin the latest CWPA Poll, open with a pair of games on Saturday at the Cal Baptist Mini Invitational.
LMU plays the second and sixth games of the nine-game single-day tournament. The Lions open the season at 10:15 a.m. against Chapman and then return to Lancer Aquatic Center for a 3:15 p.m. matchup with Pomona-Pitzer. Neither opponent has played yet this season either.
In last season's meeting, the Lions beat Chapman, 14-2, in this same tournament. LMU topped Pomona-Pitzer in the CBU Mini on opening day of the 2017 season, 13-6, and then beat the Sagehens once again in the LMU Invitational, 10-7, later in the season.
All tournament games will be played at Lancer Aquatic Center in Riverside, Calif. Tickets
LMU jumped up a spot to 15
thin the second release of the Coaches' Poll, despite being idle in the opening week of the season. Pomona-Pitzer sits atop the Varsity Division III Top 10, and Chapman ranks fifth in that poll.
