LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Loyola Marymount women's basketball team will take a quick road trip up to Malibu, as the team will take on its rival, Pepperdine this Saturday.
The Lions (10-8, 3-3) are coming off of a heartbreaking triple-overtime loss (83-75) against Santa Clara. The hard-fought battle resulted in two double-doubles from
Bree Alford and
Jasmine Jones, while Alford and Chelsey Gibson led the team in points with 18 a piece.
With 12 rebounds against Santa Clara, Alford secured the No. 1 spot in rebounds for the West Coast Conference, averaging 8.6 per game, according the WCC.
The Waves (10-6, 4-2) average 67.9 points per game, while boasting the conference's leading scorer, Yasmine Robinson-Bacote, as she averages 18.6 points per game.
Averaging 62.9 points per game, LMU is looking to snap Pepperdine's three-game winning streak. Last season, the teams went 1-1 against each other, with the Lions winning at home.
