LOS ANGELES – The LMU men's soccer team (2-6) hosts the Cal State Fullerton Titans (2-2-5) at Sullivan Field on Thursday night at 7 p.m. LMU is coming off of a major victory last Thursday as they defeated No. 13 CSUN 2-1 at home to snap a six-game losing streak.
In last Thursday's win, Lions' goalkeeper
Paul Lewis had eight saves on the night, including seven in the second half, allowing just one CSUN goal when the Matadors took 15 shots with nine of them on-goal. LMU's first goal of the night was scored by sophomore
Kris Fourcand on a double assist from
Gerardo Lopez and
Leo Zulli. Freshman
Bjarki Ragnar put in his first goal of the season to give the Lions the 2-1 win.
Fourcand and fellow sophomore
Francis Avoce lead the the Lions in scoring on the year, each with two goals, including one in each of the last two games for Fourcand. Lewis has a record of 2-5 on the season and has tallied 36 saves in his seven games played.
The Titans have five ties on the season, including their last two contests at South Florida University and Florida Gulf Coast University. Samuel Goni and Donovan Wilson lead CSUF in scoring in 2018 with two goals apiece. Titans keeper Paul-Andre Guerin has the same amount of saves as Lewis on the season, 36, and has played in all nine of CSUF's matches.
This marks LMU's final home non-conference match of the season. The team travels to New Mexico to take on the Lobos on Tuesday, Oct. 2, before WCC action begins on Sunday, Oct. 7 at Santa Clara.
