BRISTOL, England (Aug. 18) - Playing in the shadows of the Cadbury Chocolate Factory, the Loyola Marymount University women's soccer team continued signs of impressive play during their 2004 European Tour, defeating the Bristol Rovers 3-2 in a consistent rain on Tuesday, Aug. 17. With the game tied at 2-2, the Lions junior Lori Sims scored at the 73:10 mark to put the Lions up for good. It was Sims second goal of the trip as she took a midfield pass from freshman Jessica Johns and chipped it over the goalie. Junior Kelly Lewandowski continued her hot play, scoring the Lions other two goals to give her five on the tip and team leading 11 points through just three games. Her first goal against Bristol came just four minutes into the contest, taking a pass from sophomore Whitney Temple and knocking it in from about 12 yards out. After Bristol scored to tie the game at 20:51, Lewandowski put the Lions back on top in the closing seconds of the first half thanks to a sweet defense play. After taking the ball away from Bristol in their own end, she finished the play at the 44:00 mark to give LMU a 2-1 lead at the break. The Lions will have a day to themselves on Wednesday before playing their fourth and final game of the trip on Thursday, Aug. 19. Following a training session in the morning on Wednesday, the team will have the day off to explore London. LMU will take on Charlton Ladies in their final game before returning on Friday, Aug. 20. - GO LIONS -
