Kicking off back-to-back home matches on Saturday and Sunday, #49 LMU (14-2, 4-0 WCC) posted a clean 4-0 sweep over Gonzaga (9-7, 2-4 WCC) on Saturday afternoon from the LMU Tennis Center.
With the win, LMU extended its win streak to 11 straight matches.
LMU had little trouble earning the doubles point, earning an unblemished 6-0 decision on court three from Diego Nava and Errol Smith. Lukas Moenter and Charles Boyce followed with the clincher on court two, defeating Vincent Rettke/Kyle Everly, 6-2.
Singles play proved to be equally as dominant, with LMU earning a 6-1, 6-1 decision on court six behind the play of Nava. The freshman topped Kyle Everly in that spot before redshirt-freshman Lucas Moreno defeated Hunter Egger, 6-3, 6-1, to claim a point on court four.
Needing one more decision to capture the team victory, Nick Borchenko delivered on court five, besting Emilio Moreno, 6-1, 6-3 to put an end to the match. Borchenko has now won 13 straight matches and is 17-5 overall, including 13-1 in dual matches.
The Lions will look to close the weekend with another victory on Sunday as they welcome Portland to LMU for an 11 a.m. match.
