Playing on the road in West Coast Conference play, #50 LMU (15-4, 5-1 WCC) suffered a 4-1 setback at the hands of BYU (17-6, 6-2 WCC) from the Indoor Tennis Courts in Provo, Utah. The Lions have now lost back-to-back matches after winning their previous 12.

"Today was not a good effort on our part. We did not trust ourselves, and we made excuses in the face of adversity," head coach Tom Lloyd said. "In order for us to sustain ourselves as a good team, we need to do a better job at handling these types of things."

Lukas Moenter captured the lone LMU point, defeating Jeffrey Hsu, 6-4, 6-2 on court two in singles.

The Lions dropped the doubles point by way of losses on courts two and three, and the Cougars posted wins on courts three through five in singles. LMU did manage to force three sets on three and four, as Errol Smith succumb to a 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 loss on court three before Lucas Moreno fell, 6-1, 6-7, 6-4 on court four.

LMU will have little time to dwell on the setback, returning to action on Sunday with another big WCC match against San Diego at 1 p.m. The Lions and Toreros are both 5-1 and sit in a tie atop the WCC standings.
