LOS ANGELES â€" A tight first start was broken open Friday after Loyola Marymount's first half lead disappeared against conference appointment Pacific. The Lions (12-14, 2-1 GCC) were keep half, falling to the Tigers (9-6, 2-0 GCC), 11-6.
Daniela Hernandez opened the game with a goal less than two minutes into the game off a pass from Hana Vilanova. After Pacific evened the score, the Lions scored two consecutive as Hernandez added her second of the first quarter and Morgan Molloy opened the second period with a goal to push LMU ahead, 3-1.
The two teams traded the next four goals as Pacific scored then Katie Hungerford answered, then the Tigers added one more before Abbey Grosse made it a 5-3 game.
The Tigers then rattled off eight consecutive goals from the 1:57 mark of the second quarter through the 5-meter goal at 5:11 remaining in the fourth. Vilanova added the game's final goal, making it an 11-6 final score.
The Lions will host their alumni back at Burns Aqautics Center Saturday at noon before returning to Golden Coast Conference Action on April 6 and 7 against Santa Clara and Cal Baptist, respectively. Those will be the final two home games prior to returning to the Bluff for the GCC Championships on April 27-29.
