Loyola Marymount (8-18, 3-12 WCC) will put Thursday's game at Gonzaga behind them as they shift focus to face San Francisco (15-13, 7-8) on Saturday. The Dons, fresh off an upset win of their own topping Saint Mary's on Thursday host the 3:00 p.m. match. LMU won the first meeting, 67-65.
In the first matchup this season, turnovers told the story. The Dons committed 17 turnovers back on Jan. 11 in Gersten Pavilion, leading to 23 LMU points off turnovers. On the otherside, the Lions committed their second-fewest turnovers in a game this season, nine, and only allowed eight points off those turnovers. LMU leads the conference in turnovers forced and will again look to capitalize on them Saturday.
LMU continues to rely on the interior presence of freshman forward Eli Scott. In Thursday's game, Scott finished with a game-high 16 points and was the only Lion to hit the double-figures mark. Four of his six rebounds came on the offensive glass, a category that the Lions as a team sit at the top of in the West Coast Conference rankings. Scott also scored a game-high in the win over USF the first time, an 18-point performance.
The Lions hit a season-low 16.7 percent (3-for-18) from three-point range on Thursday, a drastic drop from the 10 made in the win over Pepperdine just a week ago.
The game in San Francisco will tip at 3 p.m. and will air on Spectrum Sportsnet in Los Angeles and NBC Sports California, Spectrum SportsNet, ROOT Northwest, AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain in other conference cities and stream on TheW.tv (out-of-market).
