After taking a few days off to focus on their studies, the Lions (6-2) will return to the court Friday night with one final test of the semester, Cal State Long Beach (1-9).
In their last meeting (2017), the Lions defeated the 49ers 84-69. However, their last matchup in Gersten Pavilion (2016) resulted in an overtime win for Long Beach.
Though the Long Beach team is fairly young, with 80% of their minutes going to Freshmen and Sophomores, they are dangerous behind the arc and will be an aggressive matchup as most Big West teams are.
Last week, the Lions defeated another Big West team, CSUN, thanks to outstanding performances from key players such as Gabby Green, Brittney Reed, Cierra Belvin, and Andee Velasco. LMU will be looking to these players and more to lead the team to another victory.
Tip off for Friday's game is scheduled for 7 p.m. and, to kick off the holiday break, the first 200 fans to arrive will receive an LMU Christmas ornament for their tree. It is also Dad and Daughter night at Gersten Pavillion, as well as the team's Mentorship Appreciation game.
Following this matchup, the Lions will travel to the Mario Morales Coliseum in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico to compete in the 2018 Puerto Rico classic.
