Lions Score Early, BYU Comes Back to Close Out 2018 Season

Box Score

LOS ANGELES – Loyola Marymount women's soccer celebrated the careers of eight seniors on Saturday night prior to the game against BYU. It was senior Emma Tyrnauer that scored LMU's (3-13-4, 1-7-1 WCC) goal in the 2-1 defeat to the conference champion Cougars (13-4-1, 8-1-0)

In the 25thminute, the Lions put pressure on the opposing goal box. Tyrnauer put home a ball that was unsuccessfully cleared for her first goal of the season. Her one-time shot gave the Lions the lead through the end of the first half. Tyrnauer finished her time as a Lions with 6636 minutes played, the fourth-most all-time.

BYU got on the board to equalize in the 60thminute with a ball that was played across the box and finished by Bella Folino to tie the score at 1-all.

Ten minutes later the Cougars found the back of the net again for the game-winner by Elise Flake for her team-high 13thof the year.

LMU never gave up and pushed forward until the final seconds ticked away.

Charlee Pruitt finished with five saves, to give her a career total of 307. Pruitt is only the second goalkeeper in program history to tally over 300 saves and finished second all-time in program wins win 32, fifth in save percentage (78.5 percent), and fourth in shutouts.

Both Tyrnauer and Skylar Robledo recorded three shots apiece to lead the way for the Lions. Sarina Bolden added one shot to bring her career total to 135, fifth most in program history. Bolden's career ends with her 18 goals being the fifth-most in program history.

The Cougars will earn the West Coast Conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament with their conference title. Selection Monday will determine which other teams will represent the WCC in postseason play.
