Women's Basketball To Host Education Day Tomorrow

The LMU women's basketball team (4-1) will host its third annual Education Day on Tuesday, Nov. 27, when the Lions host UC Davis (2-3) at Gersten Pavilion for a noon (12 p.m.) matchup. All (pre-registered) participating students and teachers will receive free admission, a tour of Loyola Marymount University's campus, a free T-shirt and pizza!

Education Day is a field trip that gives local elementary and middle-school students an opportunity to participate in educational activities while attending a Lions' women's basketball game. The educational emphasis will be on math, leadership, and well-being.

Bringing out 1,600 elementary and middle-aged kids to a university will help promote the importance of attending college and staying healthy and fit, being a student-athlete and women's basketball. It will also capitalize on our continued efforts to connect with the city of Los Angeles and surrounding communities. We take pride in our positive impact on the community and our programs are often structured around local schools and education. LMU Athletics' Education Day will introduce some to LMU's campus for the first time and hopefully create Lions fans for a lifetime.

In addition, there will be a special halftime show presented by Steve Max, a professional Simon Sez caller.

Faculty, staff and fans are encouraged to attend the game and spend their lunch with the Lions! We have fan-friendly pricing such as a hot dog and drink for only $6.

For more information on Education Day, please contact Alexis Melnikov at alexis.melnikov@lmu.edu or 310-258-8608.

The Lions are 4-1 to start the season, earning wins against UCLA, Arizona, UCSB and Robert Morris and falling to Northern Arizona. UC Davis has a record of 2-3 and has beaten Southern Utah and Washington State while losing to Stanford, Pacific and Portland State.
