LOS ANGELES – For the final time in their LMU careers, seven women's soccer players will compete for the Lions at Sullivan Field. The Lions (3-12-4, 1-6-1 WCC) host BYU (12-4-1, 7-1-0 WCC) Saturday at 6 p.m. with Senior Night activities happening prior to kickoff.
"This senior class is a special one," said Head Coach
Michelle Myers. "It includes some fifth year seniors from our 2014 freshmen class and overall is a class that has had a huge impact in the development of our program."
The Cougars enter the game having already clinched the West Coast Conference's automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament. BYU carries a conference-high four match win streak coming into the week, following their lone WCC loss to Pepperdine on Oct. 13. BYU sits a game ahead of 6-2 Santa Clara in the conference standings, so they are guaranteed at least a co-championship this season.
The LMU seniors playing in their final game are
Charlee Pruitt,
Sarina Bolden,
Samantha Jordan,
Melissa Lewis,
Shelby Cormier,
Emily Carman, and
Emma Tyrnauer.
Gabbie Sanfilippo is also a member of the senior class, but has been sidelined this season due to injury.
"I think more than anything those players were a very important part of who we are, and they will leave here better people because of this year," said Myers. "At the end of the day, they are going to be deeply missed and we hope that we can send them off in the best way possible on Saturday. I am very thankful for the years that they have been here and what they have given to this program."
Senior Night recognitions will begin on the field about 15 minutes prior to the 6 p.m. kickoff. The game will be streamed live on theW.tv and feature live stats. Tickets are still available online or through the LMU box office on Saturday. The team will sign autographs following the match.
