RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Loyola Marymount women's water polo took care of business on Saturday, winning both of their games at Cal Baptist's single-day mini-tournament. The Lions opened the day with a 11-5 win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, then closed out the tournament with a 14-2 result over Chapman.

Game 1: #21 LMU 11, Claremont 5 | Game 1 Box Score

The Lions came out playing from the get-go, scoring the game's first 11 goals through three quarters. After Abbey Grosse opened the scoring in the first, the next three came from Morgan Molloy

Hana Vilanova scored the final two goals of the half, taking a 6-0 lead into the break.

Kiana Harpstite opened the third period with three consecutive goals, which Serena Zafiris followed with a pair of her own.

Claire Wright made six saves in her 24 minutes of action. Jacqueline Verdugo replaced Wright in the cage for the final eight minutes of the game, allowing just one goal.

Game 2: #21 LMU 14, Chapman 2 | Game 2 Box Score

Much like the first game, LMU did not allow a first-half goal, taking the 8-0 advantage into the break. The first 10 goals went to the Lions before the Panthers got on the scoreboard.

Katie Hungerford scored all three of her goals in the first two quarters. Morgan Molloy, Serena Zafiris, and Hana Vilanova all scored a pair of goals, with Melyssa Moore, Reagan Denny, Kiana Harpstite, and Alena Sanchez adding one apiece.

Jacqueline Verdugo earned the win after playing the entire game in goal and totaling six saves.

The Lions open February with a weekend in Tempe for the Arizona State Tournament on Feb. 3-4. LMU will play Princeton and Arizona State that Saturday, then close with UC San Diego and a rematch with Hawaii on that Sunday.
