SANTA CLARA, Calif. â€" The West Coast Conference opener did not go as planned for Loyola Marymount women's soccer, as the Lions fell 4-0 to Santa Clara. The Broncos (6-5-1, 1-0 WCC) strung together three first half goals to give the home side the momentum, and never looked back beating LMU (5-3-3, 0-1 WCC) on Friday night.
Santa Clara outshot the Lions 17-9 in the contest and put in goals in the 28th, 31st, 45th, and 56th minutes. Four different Broncos scored.
Pilar Torres finished with four shots, which tied her with the game-high. Charlee Pruitt made seven saves in net.
LMU will shake off the performance Sunday at San Francisco for the second game of the conference schedule. The Lions and Dons kick off at 1 p.m. to start off October.
