LOS ANGELES - In a scoreless game and the clock winding down, it was a Sarina Bolden header to herself and push forward that secured victory for Loyola Marymount women's soccer. The Lions (5-2-3) scored in the 89th minute to break a scoreless tie and defeat Oklahoma (2-8-1), 1-0.

"A result today was huge," said Head Coach Michelle Myers. "Closing out non-conference at home on Sullivan Field and transitioning to opening conference on the road made today critical. There are no secrets to the importance of wins in terms of RPI. Oklahoma is a very good team with an unfortunate record right now."

It appeared as if LMU was headed to overtime for the second time in as many games, but Bolden was able to break ahead of the pack and use her speed to be in position for a one-on-one with OU's goalkeeper. Bolden calmly put it away, scoring the goal and securing victory for the Lions.

"I thought we did a lot better in the second half in terms of winning challenges," said Myers. "It was huge for Sarina to finish that goal. I'm very happy for her and thought she did an excellent job in the second half for us."

LMU's defense stopped 12 Oklahoma shots from going in to secure the shutout for the fourth time this season. Charlee Pruitt accounted for five saves including a pair of tips to keep the ball out of her net.

With the non-conference portion of the schedule completed, LMU now shifts its focus fully to the West Coast Conference. The Lions will open conference play on the road this week, traveling north to play Santa Clara on Friday and San Francisco on Sunday. The WCC home-opener follows, with PCH Cup rival, Pepperdine, coming to Sullivan Field on Oct. 8.
