SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Sarah Sanger provided her team-leading third goal to secure the draw for the Loyola Marymount women's soccer team. The Lions (4-2-3) allowed a goal just before half, but quickly answered in the 49th minute to tie UC Santa Barbara (3-3-3), 1-1, in double overtime.
"We talked at half time that we felt the first half was a little lackluster in terms of execution and energy," said Head Coach Michelle Myers. "To score right at the start of the half really lifted us, unfortunately we didn't get the game-winner."
Sanger received a cross in the box from Skylar Robledo and like she had done in two previous games this season, scored for the Lions.
The goal was a quick response to Amanda Ball's 44th minute header that gave the Gauchos the lead just before break.
Santa Barbara outshot LMU, 22-9, including 12-1 in the opening 45 minutes. Charlee Pruitt made a career-high 10 saves.
"Any time you can get a result on the road it is a good thing," said Myers. "We have one more non-conference home game that will be our final test before switching into conference play."
The Lions host Oklahoma on Sunday in the final game before West Coast Conference play begins. The game will kickoff at 4 p.m. as a part of a double-header with the men's team.
