NORTHRIDGE, CA - In their second and final exhibition match of the season, the Loyola Marymount Men's Soccer team defeated CSUN 2-0 Saturday night. The Lions and Matadors played a scoreless 54 minutes, until Griffin Bell found the back of the net to get things started. LMU would score one more time on the unanswering Matador team before the match was over.
Opening up the second half Bell put the Lions ahead 1-0 after the assist by Freshman Kris Fourcand. LMU added to their lead with the second goal in the 79th minute, making it 2-0. This time it was Matthew Gooden who came through after the assist by both Francis Avoce and John Bovill.
Collin Partee made three saves in 83 minutes in goal.
LMU will fly up to the Pacific North West for the season opener Friday August 25 at Seattle University and continue the road trip at Washington Sunday August 27th. The home opener will take place the following week on September 1st versus UNC Asheville
