WCC RELEASE

SAN BRUNO, CA - The start of the NCAA Men's Soccer season is right around the corner and he West Coast Conference has released the preseason poll and preseason all-conference team. Loyola Marymount was picked to finish third by the eight WCC head coaches. The Lions lone representative on the All-WCC Preseason team is reigning WCC Defender of the year Connor Johnson.

"We are happy for Connor Johnson being named to the ALL WCC Preseason team and hope he can impress enough this year to defend his WCC Defender of the Year Award from last season" said head coach Paul Krumpee.

Johnson returns for his senior season after a stand out junior year. He played 15 of the 18 matches in 2016-17 and was a solid force for the Lions back line. With Johnson's help the Lions finished with a 10-8-0 record, 4-3-0 in conference, and are looking to do even more this season.

"The WCC is strong top to bottom this year, and we will do our best to better the 3rd place selection by the WCC coaches in the preseason poll" said Krumpee. "As we know, every game is battle and is so important when playing a single round robin with no WCC Tournament to determine a champion."

The Lions played their first exhibition match Wednesday and will have one more exhibition on August 9th at CSUN, before opening the regular season at Seattle University August 25th.
