Los Angeles, Calif. - LMU picked up three wins this weekend when they hosted Saint Mary's for a WCC match up. The Lions improved to 19-29 on the season and 5-7 in conference play. Hannah Bandimere threw a complete game allowing just one unearned run, backed by an offensive force from Brooke Christensen and Sabrina Tebou.
LMU started hitting right away when Irma Sanchez began the game with a single up the middle, setting the tone early for the Lions at the plate. Christensen opened the second inning with a doubled to left, Tebou followed it up with a single of her own putting two Lions on the bases.
In the fourth, Amanda Dirks began with a single through the right side to get LMU the first base runner of the inning. Pinch runner Caitlin Harman stole second to put herself in position to score. Again, the one two punch of Christensen and Tebou came in clutch for the Lions. Christensen sent a shot to left, scoring Harman and giving LMU the lead, 1-0. With a runner on, Tebou sent a no doubt about it, 2-run home run flying over left. LMU's 3-0 lead would hold until the 5th when Saint Mary's pushed across one.
The Christensen, Tebou pair were responsible for all three Lions runs. Christensen finished her day going 2-for-3 with an RBI and Tebou was also 2-for-3 but with two RBIs.
On the mound Bandimere threw a gem, in the complete game she let up only six hits, one unearned run, no walks and struck out eight Gaels.
LMU has one final weekend of play left. They will return to Smith Field Friday May 12th for the first of three game against WCC opponent San Diego.
