Los Angeles, Calif. - LMU, who is now 9-13 on the season, faced an 8-2 setback to Texas earlier today. LMU threated to score big multiple times but couldn't push more than 2 runs across the plate.
Despite the final score, the game was 0-0 into the bottom of the 3rd. LMU was first to break open the ball game. Taylor Lockwood earned LMU's first hit of the game on her infield single. Amanda Dirks came to the plate with 2-outs and Lockwood on second. Dirks launched a no doubter over the wall, giving LMU the 2-0 lead. Texas responded with a 2-run homer in the top of 4, and continued with six more unanswered runs.
LMU had three hits on the game with two coming from Dirks. Dirks finished 2-for-3 with a 2-run home run and a double.
The Lions are back at Smith Field Thursday for the LMU tournament. They will face UCSB at 12pm and Oklahoma at 2pm.
