Feb. 19, 2017 Final Stats
Cathedral City, Calif. - LMU took on CAL to open the final day of play at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. CAL jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, and would increase it to 7-0 by the 5th inning. The Lions offense got going in the bottom of the 5th when Caitlin Harman walked, followed by Irma Sanchez's 2-run home run. Alex Finie and Amanda Dirks kept the inning going with a hit a piece but wouldn't score. LMU rallied one final time in the 7th with a 2-run bases clearing double by Dirks. CAL would hand LMU their only setback of the day with a final score of 7-4.
The nightcap was a pitcher's duel until CSUN managed a solo shot in the top of the 6th. LMU remained down 1-0 going into the bottom of the 7th. Harman singled up the middle scoring Lindsey Matoi from second, tying the game. With no one out and Taylor Lockwood on 3rd, the pitch went to the backstop and Lockwood stole home for the walk-off win and a final score of 2-1.
The Lions finished the tournament with a 2-2 record and improved to a 4-5 overall. LMU is back home tomorrow for a double-header against Utah at 12pm and 2pm.
