Loyola Marymount and Cal State Northridge's last meeting was 365 days prior to Saturday's matchup. The two local schools played a back-and-forth contest which featured seven ties and 10 lead changes. On LMU's final possession, the Lions scored a go-ahead tip-in and stopped two CSUN attempts on the other side of the court to earn the victory at the Matadome.
While this year's team is made up of entirely different players, the 4-4 Lions look to put an end to a two-game losing skip when the team returns to CSUN's campus to face the 1-7 Matadors.
Cal State Northridge has lost seven straight since opening the season with a 76-50 win over Life Pacific. The Lions have lost three of four, since beginning the year 3-1.
The Lions rank seventh in Division I in offensive rebounds per game with 15.38 (through games 12/7/17). The freshman pair of Eli Scott and Zafir Williams grabbed five offensive rebounds a piece in Wednesday's home game against Portland State, the nation's fifth-best offensive rebounding team.
Four Lions scored in double figures in the game against Portland State on Wednesday. This marked the sixth time in eight games that LMU has had four double-digit scorers.
