Sophomore Gabriel Diaz Freire has advanced to the round of 32 in the main draw from the ITA Southwest Regional hosted by Pepperdine in Malibu, Calif. over the weekend. In addition to his play in singles, Diaz Freire is also still alive while partnered with Nick Borchenko in doubles.

LMU has a second team that has reached the round of 16 in doubles, as Lukas Moenter and Lucas Moreno have also qualified by way of a victory over Bellamy/Rapp (UCLA) following a first-round bye.

Diaz Freire drew a first-round bye in singles, but posted a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Alexander Slater of Cal Poly to reach the round of 32. Following the win, he will now face Jake DeVine of USC.
