LMU on Twitter Playing on the road at Long Beach State, #25 LMU (4-3) allowed a .407 hitting percentage over the course of three sets as the 49ers (3-3) posted a 25-17, 27-25, 25-13 sweep over the Lions from Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, Calif.
Long Beach managed 38 kills with just three errors on 86 attacks in the match.
Nele Barber led the way for Long Beach, collecting 17 kills on 30 errorless swings to finish with a .567 hitting percentage. Ashley Murray also excelled, posting 11 kills with just one error on 19 swings for a.526 hitting percentage.
LMU was led by Savannah Slattery and Sarah Sponcil, as both players finished with 11 kills. The Lions hit just .154 as a team, as Long Beach State collected 13 blocks, including a block solo and five block assists from Murray.
Missy Owens set the Long Beach attack to the high clip, dishing out 34 assists.
LMU's serving game also struggled on Thursday night, with the Lions collecting just one ace to 10 service errors.
LMU will return to action on Friday when it returns home to host Harvard at 7 p.m. from Gersten Pavilion.
