Women's Soccer Routs Saint Francis U

Sept. 11, 2016

LOS ANGELES - The LMU women's soccer registered its highest scoring output since 2007 with a 7-0 blanking of Saint Francis U Sunday afternoon at Sullivan Field.

LMU, which extended its record 13th straight win at Sullivan Field, notched its highest scoring total since a 9-0 shutout of Lamar on Sept. 14, 2007.

Sarina Bolden led the offensive assault with a pair of scores while Sarah Sanger, Maddie Medved, Sydney Zuccolotto, Chloe Colbert and Jackie Fiacco each found the back of the net. Sophia Leksan notched a shutout in her first start of the season, stopping five shots on frame.

LMU wasted no time getting on the board as Pilar Torres, the reigning WCC Player of the Week, headed a ball off a corner kick to Bolden, who thrust the ball over the netminder's reach to put the Lions on the board four minutes into play.

Lewis got in on the scoring action 20 minutes in as she deked a Red Flash defender going one-on-one and dished it to Sanger, who slotted it home right in front of the keeper to make it 2-0 in favor of the Lions.

Five minutes later, Medved intercepted a failed clear attempt by the Red Flash and drove insdie the box before darting a shot just inside the left post to further LMU's command.

Sydney Zuccolotto snapped another score 30 minute mark, striking a deflection from a scrum inside the box that landed just beneath the crossbar to give the Lions a commanding 4-0 lead heading into the break.

Bolden ignited the scoreboard once again to start the second frame as Emily Carman drove the ball down the left side and crossed it to Bolden, who slotted it into the back left post for her second tally of the day.

68 minutes in, Colbert netted her first career goal, following a shot from Carman that landed right in front of the six yard box and touch a touch before driving it into the back left corner.

Jackie Fiacco capped the day by beating the keeper on a penalty kick with 27 seconds remaining to finalize the 7-0 thumping.

The Lions will test their 13-game win streak on Friday, Sept. 16 against Texas Tech at 7 p.m.
