LOS ANGELES - LMU women's water polo couldn't find any rhythm on offense as 22nd-ranked California Baptist outshot the Lions 29 to 19, lifting the Lancers to an 8-4 win in Golden Coast Conference action on Thursday afternoon.
LMU freshman goalie Sky Flores continued her solid play with 11 saves, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Lions' (8-15, 1-1) struggles on offense. LMU went 2-for-11 on the 6-on-5 while the Lancers (18-7, 2-0) capitalized on their one power play chance.
Hannah Evans set the tone early with the first three goals of the game for the Lancers to build a 3-1 lead. They led 5-2 at the half and build the lead to as large as 8-2 before the Lions scored the final two goals of the game, both on the extra-man attack.
The Lions will be back in action on Friday, April 1 when they take on 12th-ranked Pacific in GCC play at 4 pm.
