The LMU rowing team opened its spring season on Saturday with a pair of races against San Diego State. The Lions split the two races against the Aztecs, as LMU won the Varsity Eight race before dropping the 2nd Varsity Eight.

The first race of the day featured the two second eight crews. The Aztecs crossed the finish line first with a time of 6:23.6 seconds, followed by LMU's boat in 6.33.3.

LMU rebounded nicely in the Varsity Eight, clocking a time of 5:57.8 to finish in front of SDSU at 6:03.9.

LMU rowing will return to action on March 5 as both the men and women will compete at home. The women's team is scheduled to race against UCSB, while the men will participate in the Parker Cup.
