Senior Jamie Lea and redshirt-freshman Sascha Dominique once again led the way for LMU on Saturday, as the Lions (17-9, 8-6 WCC) posted a 25-19, 25-19, 25-18 road sweep over Portland (14-11, 7-6 WCC) from the Chiles Center. The victory extended LMU's win streak to three.
Lea and Dominique each finished with 11 kills, as Lea committed just one attack error over 20 swings for a .500 hitting percentage. The native of Efland, N.C. also added a block solo and two block assists. Dominique managed her 11 kills on 20 attacks with three errors, finishing with a .400 hitting percentage.
Freshman setter Jessie Prichard once again kept the offense on point, dishing out 42 assists with nine digs and three kills of her own, helping LMU to a .355 hitting percentage.
Erin Williams made the most of her chances in the victory, totaling seven kills on 13 errorless attacks, while Savannah Slattery and Sarah Sponcil finished with nine and eight kills, respectively.
LMU's serving game turned in four aces, including a pair from libero Kristen Castellanos. Castellanos teamed her aces mark with 13 digs, second only to Sponcil with 15 as LMU's team leader.
No Pilot hitter finished with double-digit kills, as Hannah Troutman led the way with nine. Portland as a team hit just .186, but eight team blocks, including a solo and four block assists from Brittney Markwith kept the Pilots in the match.
The Lions led virtually the entire way on Saturday, including never trailing in the second or third set.
With the road slate complete for the regular season, LMU will return home to play the final four regular-season matches, beginning with a November 10 match against San Francisco at 7 p.m.
