Albuquerque, N.M. - In its final non-conference contest of the season, the LMU men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision at New Mexico Tuesday night at the UNM Soccer Complex.

New Mexico (7-3-0, 1-1-0 C-USA) exploded in the opening 10 minutes of the second half, tabbing a trio of goals en route to its fifth shutout of the season, snapping LMU's (6-5-0) three-game win streak on the road.

"We matched them play-for-play until the second half," remarked head coach Paul Krumpe. "For 10 minutes we collapsed and offered up a very good team multiple chances and they made us pay."

Sarkis Shaginian tallied a game-high four shots while Alvaro Madrigal followed with a pair. Dante Pezzi made his collegiate debut in net, coming on for the remaining 30 minutes and finished with three saves, including back-to-back stops on a Lobo breakaway in the waining minutes of the match.

Just under three minutes into the second frame, New Mexico's Nicholas Rochowski broke the stalemate, heading in a corner kick to put the Lobos in command.

Niko Hansen snapped a one-timer right in front of the net off a deep cross from Tom Smart two minutes later before Aaron Herrera snuck in a free kick from just over 20 yards out to cap the 10-minute fury.

"The focus is now on our second season," said Krumpe. "It's good to take a big knock before heading into our WCC slate, we will be ready."

LMU will return to Sullivan Field as it opens up its WCC campaign against San Diego Oct. 9. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. and can be seen live on TheW.tv.
